When I was in high school, one of my favorite things to do was go dancing at Confetti’s. They were an underage club that played “alternative” music on Sundays and Thursday nights (not the prime nights, because suburban goth kids were not where the money was at). We would, when Read more…

101/365 – you can’t go home again

I’m flying to Phoenix for a minute in the morning. I’ve been running around crazy, bawling, scrambling. My schedule is kablooey and my nerves are frayed. I cant stop thinking about this tree we cut down, and scales of time. Human lifetime vs tree lifetime vs river lifetime vs stone Read more…

95/365 – beach blanket bingo

i got to walk on the beach today, so that was pretty great. And I saw loons and dead jellyfish and frogs and a long weird sea worm. Now I have a terrible stomach ache and am hoping for relief in the morning.

94/365 – to the beach

We’ve left (briefly) for the coast. Today, I framed three silk screened prints I’ve had since sometime around 2007. And I thought about how everything I own is bound up with so many memories. And then about how many of those memories are not great. Have I lived a good Read more…

93/365 – mid-week Friday

I took tomorrow off work, so I could catch up on some needed tasks, and because I needed a mental health day. I did some gardening today, which is literally grounding. As far as my to-do list, I’m getting hung up in the same spot every day: studying for this Read more…

92/365 – tax day

I did a little better today in that I got farther along on my daily to-do list. But then I started my taxes and that took four hours and nearly four hundred bucks and now all the optimism and hopes of spring are gone. I stupidly imagined I might just Read more…
