I got fantastic news a couple of weeks ago. Kernpunkt Press is going to publish The Skinned Bird!
I’ve been working on this manuscript since 2012. Since then, it has been rejected, in various configurations including both chapbook and full-length versions, around thirty times.
Thirty. Whew.
Now, I have a couple of pieces to complete, as two full-color essays+photos have to be removed because of printing costs. One of those was just rejected today. The other was published, then expanded and made into a book you can buy, which suggests that I shouldn’t take today’s rejection to heart.
The timelines for books are long. But I have my first deadline, by which I have to turn in the new work. I am trying to stay off social media as much as I can while still trying to fill a class at Creative Nonfiction so I can get that done between teaching and regulatory analysting. If you could spare a post directing science writers my way, I’d sure appreciate it.
